I have been so fortunate in my career to get paid to write. For four years I was a regular contributor and features writer for News Ltd’s flagship magazine The Sunday Magazine and also wrote a weekly Sex, Life and Love column for The Sunday Herald Sun in Melbourne.
But by far the most fun I ever had on a writing gig was turning my adventures (and tragedies) as a globe trotting, FREELANCE celebrity interviewer and producer, into a weekly column - diary style. Unlike some of my way-more-famous contemporaries - (Molly, Richard and the great Denton) - I did not have the support of producers, production assistants and managers, post production supervisors and publicists. I was all those people in one. Once the cameras started rolling, I looked as though I had the dream job; (please see Backstage Pass highlights video in the PROGRAM section). But the lead up to and the aftermath of those once-in-a-lifetime interviews, often resembled a nightmare. You seriously couldn’t make this stuff up:
